Growing up in a house where music was constantly playing, Joshua piqued an interest in learning guitar at a very young age. Starting with piano lessons at the beckoning of his mother, Joshua reluctantly participated; however a love of music was fostered around ten years of age when MTV, Fuse, and the spirit of rock n roll drove brain waves awry, totally shaping his identity. During that year is when he received a Toys ‘R’ Us, “First Act” guitar. It wasn’t long before he made a point to learn all the “rock-band” instruments to a level of proficiency. 

 

After years of practicing, often standing in front of a mirror, Joshua finally got an opportunity to perform in cover bands facilitated through a local music school. Gaining exposure in his adolescence by playing small clubs, malls, festivals, and private events gave him the confidence to take ownership of his craft. He learned how to compose and curate his life experiences into songs. He realized how cathartic it was.While his earliest originals weren’t groundbreaking, they laid the foundation for finding his voice through introspection and careful attention to detail. 

 

While attending Rutgers University in New Brunswick, Joshua became active in the underground music scene. He worked with independent artists-including his own projects- to truly develop an understanding of the DIY(do-it-yourself) ethos.  Being involved in this community via hosting shows, and networking has been one of the most valuable parts of his musical journey. He’s currently writing, recording, and performing with his project Pocket Gum, which has a new record scheduled for release in fall 2025.
